Vega #OneChange Smoothie

Hi, friends! I hope the new year has been treating you well.

If you've made any health goals for 2014, which many of us have, now's a great time to make sure you're still on track! By focusing on one change you can make and stick to, you're setting yourself up for much more success than if you try to take everything on at once. I've learned that this tip applies to much more than healthy eating, but since food is my expertise, here is one change I'm making to make 2014 my healthiest year yet!

As a part of my Sweat Pink ambassadorship with Fit Approach, I was asked to review and share my thoughts on a Vega product for their #OneChange campaign. I love this approach of tackling one goal at a time, so I decided to join in on the fun and get to cooking (ahem, blending)!

I'm a major snacker. That's not always such a bad thing, but I definitely find myself snacking when I'm just bored, not necessarily hungry! My goal to change that for 2014? Eat more mindfully! Not deprive myself or count calories or go on a diet, just pay more attention to what I'm eating and if I'm eating out of boredom or actual hunger. 

So with that in mind, I tested out the Vega plant-based protein powder in French Vanilla flavor. I'm not normally a big fan of protein powders; I tend to find them chalky with a strange aftertaste. And I'll admit that on my first attempt at a smoothie with the Vega powder (an orange and carrot one) I was not impressed. But I had my heart set on creating a smoothie that I would really enjoy, and this one really blew me away! I ended up falling in love with the protein powder in this smoothie; now I can't wait to test out more recipes!

Tropical Matcha Protein Smoothie

This may be the smoothie recipe that converts me to a protein powder fan! I really couldn't get enough. Plus it's so filling. Don't be scared away by the green color, it's just a result of the amazingly delicious matcha green tea powder (Love green tea? You'll love this!).


Ingredients:
  • 1 packet or 1 scoop Vega french vanilla protein powder
  • 1 small ripe banana, frozen
  • 3/4 cup frozen pineapple and/or mango
  • 1 teaspoon matcha green tea powder
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 4-5 ice cubes
Directions:
  1. Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth.


Drink up!

  3. You added matcha. Great idea! One of my goals is to try a gluten free diet and see if I notice any changes or benefits.
